Hi all,
I am trying to do an upgrade on my win xp pro system from an msi fx 5600128
meg to a Sapphire 9800n/p 128 meg.
I went to add remove programs and deleted all nvidia display drivers, shut
down system and removed the fx 5600, and installed the 9800 then tried to
reboot.
System would not reboot even in safe mode, all I got was a moving box on my
monitor saying that "this mode is not supported"? Same type of message box
you get if there is no signal to monitor.
I just reinstalled the fx 5600 and all is well so I can now look for help.
Rest of system is Msi k7n2 delta board, athlon 2800 xp, ATX 350 watt power
supply and Samsung 80gb hard drive etc...
Any Ideas?
TIA
Milo

Could be as simple as the new card not being fully seated in the AGP slot.
I've done that myself, especially if the slot connector is slightly bent or
the mobo isn't mounted perfectly square -- sometimes screwing it in will
actually cause one end of the card to rise enough to break some of the
contacts. Also make sure the separate power connector for the card is
properly hooked up.

Don't forget to uninstall the Nvidia drivers again before retrying the new
card. It's a pain, but you'll avoid some potential problems and the new card
will be MUCH faster when you get it going.
