We have a Windows 2000 AD server, 1 XP computer, 1 2000 computer and the
rest Windows 98. I have been reading the newsgroups, and have set up DNS
and DHCP on the server. We just set up a DSL router, which connects
through the network switch. Although the connection is flaky, I can get on
the Internet. I have the XP machine pointing to the Server for DNS, and it
is getting its IP address from DHCP on the server. I disabled DHCP on the
DSL router.
The 98 machines are getting an IP address from the DHCP server, but are not
getting on the Internet. The settings are much different for TCP/IP than
the XP machine. I have manually typed in the DNS server IP address under
the DNS Tab. When I run winipcfg, I am getting the IP Address, subnet mask
frim DHCP, but no default gateway.
I an totally lost now, and need some help getting this job done.
Does anyone have any ideas? Am I doing something wrong with the setup?
Thank you for your help in advance
