Portable Splat Graphics

This is my first time on the newsgroup.
I have muddled threw setting up a network connection on laptop win 2000 pro
to my desktop Win XP pro. It has worked with min probs. The probs I have
been having are losing connection after transferring about 10 gigs of info.
And yesterday I lost connection again but this was different. I restarted
both comps, from my XP comp I can see 6 out of 11 shared files on my laptop
and the laptop can see the xp but can't connect to it. Can anybody please
help me? I have done the google thing but it really doesn't make since.

thanks
CS

Have you checked the permissions on the 5 files which you are not able to see? Kindly check the permission of the files.

Can you clarify on: "from laptop you can see xp but can't connect to it"?
If the problem is that you can see the machine with IP address and not by name (a wild guess of your problem), then the problem might be because the network is not running DNS or WINS. You will need to add a HOSTS or LMHOSTS file to the client, with entries for all machines you want to access by name. (HOSTS file for DNS-style names, LMHOSTS for Netbios names).

Thanks,
Dinesh.
