Some old systems used an adhesive with thermal properties.
Suggest you do a Google to find a product to use. A quick
look at Google returned hits on Artic Silver Thermal
Adhesive with the note that it is NOT intended for use
between CPU and heatsinks.
You might see if you can find the mobo manual to see how
they recommended the attachment.
message | Thanx Jim - I have this old CPU and there is no clip to
| attach the heatsink. There are traces of a black substance
| which looks to be some type of adhesive. I have, however,
| seen CPU's that attach a heatsink with two plastic clips
| which fit into matching grooves on the sides. This one
| doesn't even have those grooves!
