Hi,
I've just bought a new FX-60 on eBay and its on its way:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150096546733
Its an intermediate upgrade to get the maximum performance out of my
ageing mid range socket 939 based system before I do a completely new
system upgrade to a Quad Core processor early next year.
As you can see the FX-60 I bought comes with a heatsink fan but its
not a popular one and I'm not sure if its suitable for my
requirements. I can't find much information on it. I not looking at
overclocking my system but I require excellent cooling for stability.
The most CPU intensive / resource demanding application I run is
Microsoft Flight Simulator X so one of the cores will be running at
100% (or close to) for long periods of time.
I'm basically looking for a suitable balance between noise and
effective cooling. Is the bundled Ultra HSF suitable? Can you please
recommended something else? I'm looking at air-cooling only and I
really liked the look of the Coolermaster KHC-L91 Hyper48 Heatsink but
I think its been discontinued. I also looked at the Thermalright
Ultra120 but I think its too big for my case.
Also I'm looking for something that's relative easy to fit!
I'm not sure how relevant or useful my system specification is:
∙ MSI K8N SLI (MS-7185 v.1.0) nForce4 Rev. A3
∙ BIOS Phoenix Technologies 6.00PG
∙ AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939 (Venice Core) [To be upgraded to AMD
FX-60 in a few days]
∙ Bus speed: 201MHz, Multiplier: x11.0, Core Speed: 2211 MHz
∙ Corsair 2Gb: 2x 1Gb PC3200 RAM 128 bit dual channel mode (3-3-3-8)
with Thermaltake heatsinks
∙ XFX 8800 GTS 640Mb XXX Edition
∙ Hauppauge Nova T-500 dual tuner digital TV card
∙ Western Digital 500Gb WD5000YS RE2, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 9
ms, NCQ
∙ Sony DVD-RW DW-26A
∙ 750W Xclio X12S4P4 Modular SLi U-Quiet 14cm Fan 87%+ Efficiency Quad
+12v EPS 4SATA 4 PCI-E
∙ Lian Li PC7 aluminum case
Many thanks!
