Hear headphone and speakers at same time

Can I set them both to be on at the same time?
I have my sound card connected to the HDTV. I have headphones
connected to the USB. I don't want to have to unplug the headphones
to be able to hear the TV.

Depends on what OS you are using. With Vista, it's quite easy but XP
gets more complicated. With USB headphones, they're actually seen as a
soundcard so the OS needs to direct the right stream through the right
soundcard.

I have XP. I think for the most part they got XP right.
I am not sure I want Vista.
