i want to listen to my MP3's on my headphones but the
cord isnt long enough to go to the sound card on the back
of my computer. how can i get the system to route audio
through the earphone plug on the front of my CD drive
 
You can't, not for mp3's. Goto your local RadioShack and purchase a $5
headphone extension cable.
