I plugged my headphones into my speakers and the music
only comes out on the right side! Can anyone tell me how
to fix it so that the music can be heard on both sides?
The music sounds normal on my CD player.

Hi Caitlin,

The first thing you should do is get a pair of speakers and plug them into
the speaker jack of your soundcard. Listen carefully to hear if there is
only sound coming out of the right speaker. This is to verify that your
sound card is consistently only sending output through a single channel. If
it is then I'd suspect that Windows is set to send only to one channel.

To fix this, click Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices and click
the Advanced button. This should display a Volume Control dialog. Make
sure that each of the Balance sliders are set to the exact middle. This
should correct any problems due improper balance settings.

Hope this helps.
