Hi All,

I am trying to layout a document - each four or five pages consists of
separate exercises. How can I apply completely different headers and
footers to each set of exercises within the one document.

Also, I want the page numbering to restart again for each set of exercises.

Cheers & Regards,

Sketcher.

Section breaks (next page) between each exercise will let you do this. Once
the sections are created, view Headers/Footers. On the H/F toolbar, use the
Format Page Number icon to restart numbering. The H/F toolbar also has an
icon (may be called link to previous or same as previous, depending on
version) that lets you disconnect the header from the previous one, allowing
different text. It toggles on and off.

I believe you will have to redo this for every section. If you have a LOT
of sections, post back with version number, someone might be able to give
you a macro solution to unlink and restart numbering for every section at
once.

If the data that should be in the header is formatted in a specific
style, it is possible to use the STYLEREF field to bring it into the
header, in which case it wouldn't be necessary to unlink headers.
(Page numbering can still be restarted in each section.)

But section breaks are require to restart numbering.

That is true. Maybe I wasn't clear on that, although I did mention
restarting page numbering on each section.

The purpose of my previous message was simply to point out that the
contents of the header wouldn't depend on unlinking the headers.
