Can not make the header any smaller then 4.5 inches. Use page format all,
edit editors, etc. Nothing will make it smaller for new documents. Using
Word 2003, what is going on????

May be a corrupt HP Printer driver or a corrupt normal.dot. Have you been
trying to edit normal.dot? Try renaming it as normal.bad and test Word
again.

Terry,

Thanks for the help. Recreating the normal.dot did fix the header problem.
Still have a problem though with every new document I create or an existing
document I open it goes into PRINT LAYOUT mode, even though I change the
view to NORMAL in normal.dot or save a document when in NORMAL mode.
Something else is always changing the view mode to PRINT LAYOUT, any ideas?
Don't have any macros installed.

Thanks, Al

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm. And note that
recreating Normal.dot was probably unnecessary. Most likely you had the
vertical alignment (Layout tab of Page Setup) set to Center instead of Top.
All you had to do was correct that, then click Default... in the Page Setup
dialog (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeNormalTemplate.htm).
