Well good afternoon one and all, trust this Monday finds you fit and well.
I hope this makes sense, if it doesn't, let me know and I'll try to rewrite.
I am looking for the (I assumed) simple formula to create a formula using
cell references where the cell being referenced holds a letter or letters,
the letters being the column headings. I am sure I have done this before,
but cannot for the life of me remember how (or where!)
I have 8 column (say columns A to H), and 48 rows. The information in these
cells is from another sheet within the same workbook, but is written the
other way round (landscape instead of portrait) (I know, wouldn't have done
it either, but there you go!!!) I have around 45 of these workbooks, so
not really wanting to go through each cell and manually change if it can be
avoided.
In column I, I have the letter reference of the cell which corresponds to
the value I want into this table, so I have something like this:-
Date 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Letter
8/9/3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 D
15/9/3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 E
The formula I need should be something along the lines of
=Sheet2!<letter>$6, which will give me the value in item 1 for 8/9/3
Once I have the first one, I can just copy the rest through as needed.
I have tried CONCATENATE (just puts the formula in the cell as text), and
tried using =Sheet2! & <letter> & $6 without success.
Anyone got any ideas???
As usual, all help greatly appreciated.
