Thanks for the quick response!
I forgot to mention I also have my "HDTV" hooked up to the channel master
via a UHF amp. the HDTV picks up the station (9) with no problem. When I
install the software to my computer the first time I received all the
stations audio and video with not problem.
BTW I have a new All wonder 2006 9600 video card.
This is my software uninstall procedure:
... Uninstalled all ATI software using ati uninstall file.
... Regedit all references and programs related to ati including all temp
files in windows related to ati.
Installation:
... Download latest XP display drv for All in wonder 2006 9600
NOTE: I only installed this driver not the catalyst control center.
DL four HDTV wonder files and installed as follows:
...DAO
...HDTV WONDER DRV
...DTV DECODER
... MULTI MEDIA
I think it has something to do with installation of the software??
<snip>
I also use the ATI software though my video card is a 9600 pro. I had
problems with CCC 5.9 and 5.10 when I was loading the machine up in
October. I went back to CCC 5.5 because the release date of the driver
is the same as the release for 3 of the 4 components 5-17-05. This
MOSTLY works as advertised.
I didn't have to use Regedit when using the ATI unstall utility. BEFORE
the 4 steps you mentioned I loaded
SP2
..NET Framework Version 1.1
directx 9.0c
CCC5.5
This is what I wrote 12-31-05. I have since found out about leaving DTV
on a DIFFERENT channel.
Suggestions for using 'schedule record' in MMC 9.08
1: type any name at all for the recording. It will change it to
something else, usually what channel it was last used but seems to make
the file name match the Library entry so it works. ALSO it goofs up the
library entry IF you leave DTV on the SAME channel it is programmed to
record.
You can 'Change Title' within Library to put in the actual show name
and it still
works. If it doesn't play from the Library, try 'File Player'. The
files are in a hidden folder. On my machine its
C:\documents and settings\<my user name>\application data\ATI MMC.
I have also played them by using Windows Explorer and double clicking
on one of the 2 Kbyte *.VCR files. To find the files you'll have to
select 'show hidden files' in the Windows 'folder options' ' view'
tab.
2: always select 'close MMC when complete' when scheduling a recording.
Needed if you're scheduling another record later.
3: always allow 1 minute between recordings. To avoid truncating the
shows, set your computer clock 10 seconds fast so it all begins a few
seconds before the start of the show.
4: Suggest NOT checking 'preserve TV on demand between sessions' in the
initialization wizard. If you leave it checked (default), it will chew
through your hard drive at 6-8 Gigs/hour and have a HUGE nmber of
selections in the Library.
5: Defragment the hard drive frequently -- like every week.
Good luck with this
