How unreliable of the hd's overlay program?

Suggested by people I should avoid using it unless I have no choice.

I am having a system that don't support HD above 32gb (need to install a
80gb hd)
The motherboard's company has gone and no available bios updates.
No available empty PCI slot for IDE controller ...

Usually yes because they can interfere with some basic window's
programs like,"Scandisk/Defrag"

Don't worry too much.If you need to use the software then do so.Any
problem you encounter can be fixed but,"Never" trust any critical data
to a hard drive no matter what you use e.g hardware or software.Burn
to a Cd/DVD.

HTH :)

They are very reliable, however be warned that many hd utilities such as
image backups, etc. will not work. I know that in the case of some Western
Digital drives, if you are using the overlay (Drive Manager) you cannot do
a soft re-boot & must power down completely to reboot so the overlay loads.

Unfortunately in your situation your only alternative to using an overlay
is to buy an add-on drive controller card.
