You cannot simply copy over an entire drive from a running system

best to use a cloning utility

Just for the record there are Operating Systems out there
that give the user the power to simply transfer all files to
another HDD and when the boot-loader is installed into the
MBR of the new HDD it's smooth sailing.

This is another reason why I use such a alternative OS.
