Steve

I have an 80G HDD that ive taken from another computer. It was partitioned
into two 40G drives.
When I put the hard drive into another computer, it can only see 31G. Can
someone please help me find the rest of my HDD.
Have tried Disk Management in the Computer Management.
Thanks

Your bios does not recognize more than 32 Gb .I had one at work
like that, and at home an even older one stopping at 8GB,when I
got new disks for 2 of those, the smallest ones i could get ,was
20 GB,so even now 12GB (on four disks) goes unused .Well...
for 2 old dos computers even 8GB is an awfull lot -)-)-)

Either that, or when the drive was moved to new system the
jumpers were changed and one jumper was mistakenly put on
the capcacity limit pins- which would also force the smaller
size reported.

You didn't give any technical details about the computer that only sees 31
GB of the harddrive. My assumption is that it is an older computer and that
it's motherboard's BIOS can only recognize harddrives up to 32 GB in size.
To change this you would have to find a BIOS upgrade for that specific
motherboard that would allow the use of larger harddrives.
