Occasionally I have a question re a particular hdd and DR.
Thereafter I will email tech support for the hdd manufacture.
I have had very detailed and supportive response at one end of the
spectrum - at the other end my inquiry was not answered.

I would be interested in other experiences with the various hdd mfg's and
storage mfg's. The good, the bad and the downright
ugly.

Please respond to the NG - perhaps some of the tech support types for the
mfg will take notice?

If your email was as cryptic as this one, that last is hardly surprising.

Pigs might fly, too.

I saw a pig fly last week!

You were warned about those illegal substances you indulge in.
But I doubt that would influence tech support for any hdd mfg.

Neither would your rant.
My statement to the NG was vague on purpose as
not to influence any response re one mfg vs another.

I didnt mean vague about specific manufacturers.

Many wouldnt know what you meant by DR
My inquiries to the hdd mfg's are very specific.
I know your ("Rod"'s) attitude toward deathstars ... but how
bad/good have you found customer service from Hitachi?

I dont bother with their drives myself.

Their terminally stupid refusal to cross ship with RMAed
drives is enough to get me to ignore their drives completely,
quite apart from their obscene behaviour on the problem
seen with DeathStars. I wont normally bother with any
operation thats in the throws of that sort of massive
organisational upheaval either, just because you usually
see those who are employable anywhere jump ship rather
than get involved with that sort of massive reorganisation.
