You have to make sense or no one can help you.
Using "Dell" computer, you copied some files (What files?) to USB HD?
USB HD was "laptop" HDD?
The "Original" HDD: "the original no longer registers at all and the led
light is about 1/10th of normal brightness". The original drive is the same
drive that was in usb caddy???

So now the Laptop won't boot up??
What did yuo copy to drive??

What did you do? Move the files from one disk to an external
USB HD instead of copy? Sure, if they were moved, then the
files would no longer be on the original disk. To restore the
files on the original disk, so it will work, copy the files
to it from the disk in the USB HD caddy.

Can't tell if you're worried that the one drive has failed or if you're
worried about a mistake made during transferring files.. or both?

If a drive has failed and it's still under warranty, contact the
manufacturer's support. If you need files off of the drive, contact a data
recovery service (expensive! but prices vary so shop around).

If files are missing from the drive you copied them from and that drive is
still working, use undelete software to retrieve the files. You may not get
all of them back but some is better than none? A nice straigthforward and
easy to understand page about file recovery can be found here:
