OK ,Then it goes like this I'm motoring along with two HDD's running,I
shutdown the system, come back and the s.o.b. will
not see/detect the second/slave hdd, both HDD's are identical WDigital
120's,I have checked the boot.ini file and it points to the primary
partition/drive0,etc,this can go on ,and does until I shut the sucker down
and disconnect both HDD's,not a prob as they are in caddys..
Any ?? ideaz suggestions??????????????

Try asking again in plain "no slang" English - with a few more details, e.g.
for starters, you supposedly checked the boot.ini file, but didn't bother to
mention what exactly is in that file - not really much help for remote
trouble-shooting!

Believe it or not, there are other people in the world who DO know how to
compose a query correctly. My first response was not to bother reading and
trying to interpret all that slang, & I'm sure I'm not the only one to felt
inclined skip over your question because of that - and did so.

Actually, I'm quite surprised to see a Canadian writing in that manner - in
that other land a bit further south, yes, but that's to be expected.

does the BIOS detect the HDD? essentially it is the BIOS that needs to detect
them so Windows can use them, as I understand it anyway.

Someone else may provide a more technical solution.

Hi,

Seen in the BIOS?
Device Manager?
Disk Manager?

Could be hardware related. Check your connections.

It could also be the power supply, especially if you added the second hard
drive recently. When you are at the limit of the power supply the devices
will be erratic.

What kind of "no slang English" is "I'm sure I'm not the only one
to felt
inclined skip over your question because of that - and did so"?

As a proud citizen of that nation south of Canada, I'm a little
confused.
And to answer your next question, I voted for the other guy.

Don't get me wrong, I have many Canadian NG friends & if I had the choice of
an o/s trip from OZ to Canada or the U.S., I know which one I'd head for.

I was just complaining about the sentence construction (it may me
'jive-talk' in Canada, but this IS an International NG.)

Examples -

* OK ,Then it goes like this
* the s.o.b. (a U.S. phrase)
* and does until I shut the sucker down
* Any ?? ideaz

I thought Canadians were extremely proud of their English/French heritage,
so why not utilise it?

Sorry to offend, but I've never corresponded with any Canadian who
constructs sentences in that way, they almost exclusively use correct
English (& spelling) & abhor U.S. "catch-phrases".

"> And to answer your next question, I voted for the other guy."
Sorry, you lost me completely with that comment.

First off, I'm not Canadian. I'm a resident of, as you put it,
"that other land a bit further south". I'm an American.

I'm not offended. I just found it a little ironic that your
response to the OP concerning his use of the English language
contained a sentence that made no sense. If I've lost you again,
I suggest you read the last sentence of the second paragraph of
your earlier post.

I also was puzzled by you're blanket statement about how the OP's
manner of writing was to be expected of Americans. If you ever
have an opportunity to visit the States, you'll be happy to know
that the vast majority of Americans can speak and write excellent
English.

Sorry if I lost you with the comment about "voting for the other
guy". It must be one of those "catch-phrases" we Americans are so
famous for. It's a way of saying we're not all the same.

Thank you all kindly for your attention to this little matter .I did not
mention anything about the bios/power/supply etc,,because there is no
problem there [?? I think] 350watt pws,RE:the boot ini file points to the
first partition of the primary drive and nowhere else as in drive 0 partn
0 etc,I wish to state that I am not a newbie, have been monkeying around
with computers since Unix v2.Let me restate:the computer is up and
running, and, for whatever reason I shut it down. Then when I turn it back
on with the second HDD whether it is the 120g or the 80g it skips the 2nd
drive and reboots this erratic behavior will continue untill I shut the
system down, and maybe when I turn it on again,,it might see the 2nd HDD
the box itself is reasonably clean as it is completely dissassembled
bi-annually and cleaned and inspected and all the rails are tested with 2
meters one is digital the other a standard type meter. This has me greatly
puzzled, which is a rare event where simple computers are concerned,so,,
Please keep the suggestions coming no matter how far fetched they sound
because with electronics, "y'a just never know,pilgrim"....
PS. Having a Canada.com address does not imply that the holder is
Canadain,no more than a RU address would make one a Russian.Eh what ??
Again Thank You all,for your time and attention. Ciao.Via con Amore e
Pac'e.....

The behaviour is erratic. It sounds hardware related. Check your
connections.
