I'm looking for an HDD activity light. My computer case is stashed under my
desk ands I can't see what's going on. I would like a light that shows on
the screen rather than the task bar. Does anyone know of one?

Thanks,,,

Not Freeware, but HD Led might be worth $20 -->

I'd find it handyg to make one of the keyboard leds indicate drive
activity. This way, your monitor could even be turned off and you'd
still see drive activity.

Here's some DOS utility doing this:

It has even got the assembler source code included, so if you need a
challenge... ;-)

I think there are some advantages to having a hardware light, if you want
to try this... there is a jumper on the motherboard that normally goes to
the case light. All you have to do is use longer wires to bring the light
anywhere else. Single LEDs are worth like $0.05

Woa... good idea. I may run a wire up through the "rat hole" in my desk and
clip an LED to my monitor. The software lights just aren't bright enough.

Bob,

Try HDI, 146kb (zipped) and no install, works on Win2K and XP, puts a light
done by the time.
