hd wiped, need recovery tools

my harddisks got wiped possibly by a magnet...
i got osme free trials of tools that can see the files but i need some
free tools that will let me recover the files, any help?
its a ntfs drive on xp pro

western digital 120gb
maxtor 80gb

about 140gb total lost :/
 
the drives are fine, windows asks to format cuz somethings wiped, i
just wanna repair it or something using free software

You did say you wanted to recover some files !. Is this drive the one with
your OS on ?.
If it is you can boot up with your XP CD and do a repair. This should leave
your files intact. Come back.

fixed the boot drive with spinrite, now i gotta recover my 120gb which
has no trace of partitions left cause windows f'd it over.. gonna look
for a program to search the files now

no partitions. hmm.
I've used R-Studio, it's not free. there is a demo version. so you
could at least see if the files are recoverable it jst won't let you
recover files > than a certain amount.
But I've never used it on a HDD with no partitions.
It'd be itneresting to know if you find anything abotu that. Recovering
files from a HDD where you can't even see partitions!
 
using "getdataback" for ntfs, its analyzed the whole drive and let me
copy files off so far...
