hd troubles

hey-

i am putting a 20gig hard drive into a computer with windows xp installed on it.

i grabbed files off my dying old pc with windows me on it. now we are tying to put the hard drive into a computer with widnows xp on it.. its not readint eh drive in bios, or in disk management, or my computer, and when tisa connected the dvd-r isnt reading either...

the hard drive was originally on a win2000 system, then formatted and win me files thrown on it, and now this is where we are stuck...

Hi,

Make sure your BIOS is set to autodetect your drives.
Also take a look at the fiddly small plastic jumper plugs
at the back end of your HDD. They tell your HDD to behave
as either a Master, Slave or CS (Cable Select - i.e. auto).
Try setting the pins to CS.

Otherwise go to the manufacturer's website and they
usually have good installation guides.
