Hi All
My wife and daughter have convinced me that we need a hard-drive recorder. Have Googled it and see that it should have a freeview tuner. Seen a huge variation of prices and have no idea of the relation between HD size and recording time.
Any advice very welcome.

how many shows etc are you liable to hold on it at any one time ?

160GB is a fairly decent amount, i'm not entirely sure on how much you'll get on it but when i record TV on my PC an hour takes ~2GB

hopefully that'll give you an idea

Thanks Me_2001
It would only be a couple of afternoon shows a day (I have no idea why!) - so 160MB would be fine.
Cheers

well i've had a look around and some are saying up to 88hours on a 160GB drive

Well, it looks like I could be really tight on this! But wife's 61st birthday on 6th October so many GB would be appropriate.
Thanks again

Thanks nick9000
I think 160 GB will be enough for us, have been looking at a Panasonic as I already have a flat-screen TV, DVD recorder (no HD) and DVD player of the same make. They have all been excellent but of course there is no great reason to stick to Panasonic. Will check out your Humax.
Cheers

Look around for a good deal but 160gb recorder is good.

But if your looking for a short record you could try a dvd burner. Good thing about these you can lend it your freind, with a harddrive recorder you can,t.

If you do get a harddrive recorder get one with freeview built in.
