I wonder if you can help me.

I have a Desktop PC that has broken so I have ordered a new one and am
awaiting its delivery.
I do not know if the HD's in my broken PC are damaged or whether they are
still in good working order.

What I wanted to know; and I do not know if this is even possible, is, once
the HD's have been removed from my broken PC, is there anyway that I can
connect my old internal HD's to a port on the back of my new desktop PC so
that I can see if the data is intact and transfer what files I need without
having to open the case of my new PC?

In case you are wondering why I don't want the HD's installed in my new PC
it is because I am disabled and cannot do it, also I do not want to void the
warranty on my new PC.

Can my old HD's be connected to a firewire port for example?

For your information both HD's are SATA. I don't mind having to buy a cable
to solve my problem as long as it is not ridiculously expensive.

I hope you can help me.

I appreciate any help or information given.

Thanks!

You need a box which has a firewire connection and which
accepts SATA drives. Thats less common, many of them
accept only IDE drives. You put the drive in the small box
and then connect it to the firewire or USB2 port on the new PC.

An example is http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=3506SASP-BLK&cat=HDD
I hope you can help me.

Hi Neill and Rod, NO!
It depends on what connection methods/types are available.

Has nothing to do with warranty. You might install what You want.
Even a friend of You might do this for You.
In case of warrenty You might almost be asked to setup the original
delivery state.
Can my old HD's be connected to a firewire port for example?
Yes.
NO, only by means of special adapters.

No problem but then You have to open the PC and connect that
cable internally.
On the other hand You may use external drive connections
as Rod told You.

Fraid so.

Duh. He appears to be saying he does have firewire available.
Has nothing to do with warranty.

You dont know that.
You might install what You want. Even a friend of You might do this for You.

Unlikely that he'd have asked in here if it was that easy.
In case of warrenty You might almost be asked to setup the original delivery state.

And you can be told to bugger off if you have opened the case.
NO, only by means of special adapters.

What I said in that post and you carefully deleted from the quoting.

Hi Rod, but he did not said for HD connections!

Where? Quoted section of Your's follows:

You said he would need an *extra box* - that was my objection!

That was clearly implied in that para now at the top.
Where? Quoted section of Your's follows:

There, stupid.
You said he would need an *extra box*

Thats where the 'special adapter' is, stupid.
- that was my objection!

Your problem, as always.
Fup2 "comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage"

Try again, in english this time.

Sorry, but I don't understand Your expressions ;-(
Interfaces for SATA are somewhat different to firewire!
Thats where the 'special adapter' is, stupid.

Sorry, but why You intend on firewire? That's a different interface!
Same is true for all: P-ATA(IDE), S-ATA, Firewire and USB!
Your problem, as always.
WHICH one please? Do You also have other phrases? ;-)

THAT IS WHERE I CLEARLY SAID YOU NEED A 'SPECIAL ADAPTER', STUPID.
Interfaces for SATA are somewhat different to firewire!

THATS WHY YOU NEED A 'SPECIAL ADAPTER', STUPID.
Sorry, but why You intend on firewire?

Repeat in pure english.

YOU NEED A 'SPECIAL ADAPTER; BETWEEN SATA AND FIREWIRE
BECAUSE HE IS TOO CRIPPLED TO OPEN THE CASE AND WANTS
TO BE ABLE TO PLUG THE DRIVE INTO ONE OF THE PORTS THAT
THE CASE HAS, STUPID.
That's a different interface!

You quite sure you aint one of those rocket scientist piles of horseshit ?

Hi Rod, pleas ehelp me foreigner.
What are "rocket scientist piles of horseshit"?
I understand that You're not qualified on fact statements,
but I want to understand what You intended to say.

Rubbish, that would be kid's replies.
You're not yet "trocken hinter den Ohren".
