Hi,
I've partitionned my HD into 3 different partitions... The
partitions are called D: E: and F:.. Is it possible to
change the D: for C: ? Debbie says we can change it with
the registry? How can we do that?
Thanks!
Not enough information.
If it's your only HD, the first primary partition should have come up
as C:, so if that's the case, something is wrong.
If it's a second HD and you already have a C:, then it depends. If
you have a dual boot system with W98 on C:, it has to stay that way.
W98 must be on C:. XP can be installed anywhere, but it needs it's
boot files on the boot partition - C:. Change your D: to C: and you
will stuff up both 98 AND XP.
Otherwise, sure, you can change the disk letters using a right click
on My Computer & select Manage then select Disk Management then right
click on the partition you want to change & select change drive
letter. It's easy!
But before you do that, just think of the problems you will cause to
all your programs that point in the registry to D: that you have just
changed to C:. The ones that originally pointed to C: may now need to
point to D or E or F, depending on how you reletter. Chaos, that's
what!
Before you attempt to change anything I suggest you do a fair bit of
browsing the MS knowledge Base and web pages such as:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/
http://www.windowsxpatoz.com/
and

to get an understanding of what you are trying to do.
If you don't understand the consequences of what you want to do, then
don't!
