My mobo has a limit of 160GB. I'm wondering if the same would be true for
external usb hd's. Would I be able to use an external hd that was greater
than 160DB

Western Digital Hard-Drives over 160Gig come with software (usually on
CD) to handle BIOS limits by installing their own driver during the boot
phase. I ass-u-me other companies making large hard drives do the same.
