Jeff

I am trying to create a powerpoint presentation that opens
video clips with Windows Media Player. I have the clip as
a hyperlink so if they want to show the video they can
just click on it. After the clip has finished I would
like the window to automatically close and go back to
powerpoint. I have looked for command line swithces and
other things but nothing seems to work with WMP 9. Thanks

Hello,

Just curious, why are you trying to play movies using a hyperlink instead
of the built-in movie playback control of PowerPoint (Insert -> Movies and
Sounds)?

Hyperlinking to a movie file will rely on the Windows shell to determine
which application to use to play that movie (it might not be Windows Media
Player on all systems) so you might get inconsistent results from one
computer to another.

John, I missed the original post but the subject indicates that it is about
inserting WMV files. If you use the Insert->Movies from File then
PowerPoint uses the MCI driver to playback the movie. If you insert a WMP
object or (maybe?) hypelink to it you can get it to use WMP to playback the
movie. WMP does a much better job of playing movies than the MCI driver. I
am just guessing this is why the OP used the hyperlink. I bought PowerPoint
2003 because I read some documents indicating there were methods to get it
to use WMP even when inserted from file. I could never get it to work
though.

Since I missed the OP I might be way off base. Well, I might be way off
base even if I hadn't. ;-)
