Having trouble with new Memory

I upgraded my HP Pavilion 8755C to Windows XP earlier this
year. I decided to upgrade my memory from 128 MB to 512
MB. After trying two different brands of memory, I have
been unable to get it to work. I have gotten a message
telling me that I must tweak the ACPI compliant in the
system bios. I haven't been able to find this. To make a
long story short, I've been looking for a solution and I'm
begining to think this is a compatibility issue with XP.
Any ideas?

Press F2 as soon as you turn the computer on, before windows
boots, that should open the BIOS. You can disable the
splashscreen also in the BIOS so you see the POST test, that
also helps.
HP makes a lot of changes to standard motherboards when they
build a computer and they also change the BIOS...
Did you run an XP compatibility test before you upgraded?
You can find the test on the XP CD or try www.pcpitstop.com
