Having trouble inserting a GIF Image

I've got a GIF image which I developed in Corel PhotoPaint. Nothing fancy, a
small GIF with a transparency.

When I insert this into my PowerPoint presentation, I just get a box with
the red x in the corner (i.e. same box IE uses to indicate that an image
cannot be downloaded). Any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks for your help!

Something seems wrong with my GIF filter. When I browse for images, other
image formats display a thumbnail of the image, but not for GIF's. Shouldn't
PowerPoint support GIF's? Looking at my Office installation, I can see the
under Common Office Components, the filter for GIF images does seem to be
installed. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks!

Hi,

Bit of a long shot, but have you applied updates via Help| Check for
updates? Else, maybe Detect and repair may reinstall any problem filters.
Not my area of expertise, but it might also be a problem with some other
sort of program recently installed?
