I got a new computer about 2 months ago with Windows XP Media Center
Edition.

I am having trouble downloading pdf files, something I didn't have
trouble doing before the new computer.

Any suggestions what I can do to get the downloading to work?

Note: I have the latest version (7.07) of Acrobat Adobe Reader.

Right click a .pdf link and select Save Target As. This will get you a
download dialog box and the pdf won't open in your browser.

Wesley's recommendation should work. There's also another way. You can remove
the check mark for "Display The .PDF In Browser". It's found from the Menu
bar at File/Preferences/Internet/Display .PDF In Browser.

Also...

This should allow you to get a download dialog box and never open a pdf file
in IE again.
Go to >>
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Plug_ins
and move the EWH32.api file up into the Optional folder.

EWH32.api = External Window Handler
The Acrobat Browser Manager plug-in allows users to view PDF files in their
web browser.

Get this and disable all the unneeded crap from Adobe Reader...
Adobe Reader SpeedUp 1.32

Or get this and uninstall the crappy Adobe Reader.

You know there is a checkbox in Acrobat's Options dialog. Edit menu - Preferences - Options page.

Don't know if I ever knew that or not. If I did I have forgotten since I do
not use Acrobat any more.
