I have Windows XP homeedition on my computor and am useing
DSL for internet. When my computer sits for 3 or 4hrs
without me doing any thing on it and I click on my browser
it will not come up until I reboot computer. How do I stop
this? I have my computer sit up to never go to standby or
pause etc. Thank You! Jimmy W.

Do you know if your dsl connection is still there when this occurs ?

What kind of dsl connection is it, is it an always on, or do you need to
supply a username and password when you connect.

In internet options/connections, which of these methods is setup for your
connection.

Never dial a connection
Dial whenever a network connection is not present
Always dial my default connection

What hardware do you use to connect to the internet, do you have a pci dsl
card, or a network card connected to a router, or a usb connection or
something else. Are any of these devices set to allow xp to turn them off to
save power. Look in the device properties in device manager for any power
management tabs for the device. If its a usb device, then disable turning
off the power in usb hub properties.

control Panel/system/hardware/device manager

If its an external device, try turining it off and on again, without
rebooting xp
