HAVING TO REACTEVATE XP

I deleated my nic card in the control panel and when I restarted my computer I got an error message saying xp was unable to verify the license. I had to reactivate xp. what would cause this, and what's it's remedy?

As far as XP Activation, the NIC plays a big role in creating the hardware
profile that is checked each and every boot up. Remove/Add the NIC and
almost surely you'll need to reactivate.

You forced the computer to redetect the NIC.
The NIC is a major player in Windows Product Activation although that
little exercise should not have tripped activation.

The fix...Activate as requested.
