having problems w/ new dvd writer

I installed a new dvd writer mfg'd by sony - model #
DRU110A-C1. The product does everything xcept burn dvd's
and I have spent endless hrs attempting to resolve this
issue. My processor is an HP Pavillion 520W. I installed
the software that came w/ the writer and also installed
other dvd burning software (Nero) and still no results. I
have had a couple of error msgs (player does not support
the format that I am trying to play) and (interface not
registered)and (can not copy files to recordable disc).
Can someone please help me resolve these issues???

Two things
i) make sure you have the latest firmware version installed for your DVD
burner (should be available on sony's website)
ii) make sure you have the latest version of Nero installed (www.ahead.de)

Make sure you're only using DVD+RW. It wont take any other DVD formats
other than CD-R/RW.
