Having problems on web sites

I have recently purchased anew computer and am having a problem clicking on
links on various web pages. When i click on a link the following appears:
"click to activate and use this control." What does this mean? sometimes it
says click enter or the space bar to use this control but NOTHING works.
Help! I'm not even sure this is an Internet explorer problem. Thanks.

Go to add/remove programs and see if you can find hotfix 912945, if so
uninstall it and reboot. This is NOT a security issue rather M/S has
infringed on someone elses rights ...Yet again.

hi i am having the same problem i found a hotfix patch which i deleted but it
has not helped is there any thing else i can do? many thanks in advance
 
ME also please help. i dont have the hotfix in my add/remove programs either.
So i dont know what else to do
 
i have not tried this fix yet but thanks for taking the time and trouble to
help me good luck, i will post the results
