Having problems linking Child/Master fields in Report

I have a report called "rptReportWorld" based from a table that has all the
departments listed and the world each department falls under.

I have about 20 subreports in this report. Each subreport and the main
report have the "originaldept" field. I need to link the originaldept field
in the subreport and main reports so that the data lines up correctly.

When I try to create the link, I get the message: "Cannot create a link
between unbound forms."

Help, please???
 
Last suggestion --
Try removing all subreports and run the main - do you get data, does it
display the "originaldept" field?
 
You don't have to use the builder button to link master/child. What happens
if you just type the field names into the properties.
 
The report is blank if I do that.

Which report is blank? The main and all subreports?
Can you provide some information about the significant fields in your record
sources? How about describing the relationships between these?
 
You know...I have NO IDEA what I was doing last week, but when I type the
fields in now it works just fine.

*sigh*
