I go to one particular site: http://www.hovabikefair.tk/, and receive only a
blank page. I can go in and change my "restricted" sites settings to low
and it will display properly (but is not a restricted site).

I have added the address to "trusted sites" and yet still will not open
properly without changing the settings on restricted sites............

Suggestions PLEASE,

Larry

I was trying to download a separate Internet program onto my computer last
night. It started setting up Internet Explorer, and then the following error
message appeared:

explorer.exe has generated erros and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program. An error log is being created.

That's all it shows. Then the blue screen appears and nothing happens. I
now can't access any of my hard drive!!!! Help!

Well, if I could figure out how the CRAP to do that--I would love to. There
are no buttons nor connections shown on my screen to make a new post--so if
you'd like to tutor me--feel free!

Hi mmpson :-)

If you wish to use Outlook Express as your newsreader, here is how to set it
up. Much easier than some others, and the Internet access especially. :-)

First...

Read here how to setup Outlook Express as your default newsreader
http://www.ieinfosite.co.uk/tip_view.asp?id=23
http://grc.com/configOE.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098

Next......

Create New Identity:

Your identity may be damaged. Try creating a new identity, add your
account(s) to it and if all works well, you can import your messages
from the problem identity, then delete it at some later date.
when all seems well, use file>import to get your mail from the old ID into
the new ID before deleting the old.

Then....

How to set up an MS newsgroup

In OE go to Tools>Accounts>Add (or New)>News.
Set up an account for this news server:
msnews.microsoft.com

Scroll down the list to the groups you want to subscribe to and then click
Subscribe. When done, click OK

The server is free and does not require you to logon. This news server
carries over 2200 newsgroups related to Microsoft products and keeps
messages at least 30 days.

Hope this helps :-)

Suggestions PLEASE,

Always disclose your OS when you need help.

One possibility is that the site is redirecting to a restricted site.
The best way to check that would be to do a packet trace.
XP Pro users could use netcap to do that.
Others could use (e.g.) Ethereal.

Alternatively, you could use telnet 80 to start simulating the requests
that IE makes at that site and see if you get any good clues that way.

Another way to diagnose a connectivity problem which can help give
you better clues is to change your security settings to all Prompts.
This may slow the rendering down enough that you can read the URLs
that are being requested in the Status bar. Setting Fullscreen mode
(e.g. pressing F11) or Maximizing the window (Alt-Space,x) can help
make those URLs as visible as possible.

Finally, check out the list of sites given in the Privacy Report (Alt-V,v)
You might find a restricted site listed there which could start explaining
your symptom.

Good luck

Thanks Robert, ya helped me figure it out (although still confused by what I
am seeing)

I pulled the site up and pulled the privacy report and it showed 2 sites (I
know this page had a pop-up imbedded in it and I assume that is what I am
seeing); one site shows IS listed in the restricted sites (www.freeweb.com).

Not sure what all this means but I guess I have an answer.

Oh, running XPHome SP1.
