Dear guru,

I have got Windows XP home edition.

There is no response when I press short key "Windows + E" to load Windows
Explorer after sytem started, and the system become very slow and almost
stop response.
All tasks seem to be pending.

After I kill the rundll32 process in task manager,
the explorer jumps out immediately, all response for my previou request also
jump out immediately, and the system performs as normal.

Could any guru give me some hints to solve it ?
Is my system infected by virus ?

Use msconfig.exe to disable all startup programs, reboot, see if it
still occurs. If not, reenable each program one at a time, reboot, and
retest. When the problem reappears, you'll know which one caused it.
If that doesn't solve it, time to look at what NT services you have set
for Automatic load on Windows startup.

Presumably you have already done the following:
- Performed a full scan using a recently updated anti-virus program.
- Scanned for spyware using Ad-Aware, Spybot, and CWShredder.

The Rundll32 is executing a DLL/it's function. The actual DLL may be a trojan or malware. Try Vanguard's suggestions and you may use Process Explorer to know the Rundll32 and it's command-line param DLL name, being executed..
