Have the Disks..not the Product ID#

I originally installed a demo copy of xp pro on my
computer. Later, I installed a purchased version. Some
time after that I decided to re-format the hard drive. I
misplaced the purchased disks and product id number. So
I reinstalled the demo copy. I would like to reinstall
the purchased copy which was registered, but for one
problem. I relocated the purchased disks but cannot find
the product id number, so I cannot install the software.
The product id number on the computer now is from the
demo disks. Bottom line, I cannot get any updates
without the registered version, including SP1. Is there a
way to obtain my product id# anywhere in the registry? Or
can I reach Microsoft without charge to obtain my id #.
My 2 no-charge incidents are gone and the charge is
#35.00 for one incident. Rather than take the chance of
blowing $35.00, should I just buy a new XP? I know this
sounds like a convoluted mess due to poor organization
but thanks for the help anyway.

Did you register your copy of Windows XP? Registering was an option when you
activated the computer.

Yes, I think I did. Thanks

Then it should be no problem when you call them up and give them your
information for them to give you your product key
