Hi All

I want to configure an automatic reply for one customer service account (it
is supposed that the ones writing here are people outside the company).

I created one rule using the following settings:

- Check messages when they arrive
- "Where my Name is in the To or Cc box" as the condition
- Have server reply using a specific message as the action.
- I defined a custom message.

I have Exchange 2000 server and Outlook 2003

When I sent a message to that account from outside (using my hotmail account
for example) I didn't get any reply at all (off course the rule was turned
on).

Why it is not working if it seems very straightforward.

It is not possible with Outlook and Exchange ??

What other option I can try

Thanks

Any help will be really appreciatted.

Exchange Server disables automatic replies and Out of Office messages to the
Internet by default. I don't know where the settings are in Exchange 2000,
in Exchange 5.5, they 're on the Internet Mail Service properties sheet.

I went to Global Settings --> Internet Message Format --> Default -->
Advanced

And checked "Allow automatic Replies" , but it is still not working

Is there anything I'm missing ?

Thanks

Guillermo

You usually have to stop and restart the Internet Mail Service for settings
changes to take effect. If you didn't do that, give it a try.

One information I didn't give you, all the incoming messagess to this account
were being redirected to another account.

I changed the settings in the "Exchange General" --> "Delivery Options" -->
"Deliver messages to both forwarding address and mailbox".

After that the auto-reply worked !!!!

Thanks HAL for your help
