Have older scanner

I recently bought a new computer with XP. I have an
ImageReader Elite EPP scanner that uses TWAIN drivers
(compatible with '95/'98) THe vendor is kaput, and I have
researched driver sites for an upgraded driver. Tried a
few, no luck. Does XP not recognize TWAIN? Is there a
conversion tool for WIA to TWAIN? I hate to have to buy a
new scanner. Please help.
