THe hard drive failed and I have the stick-on product
key. I do not havee the matching delivery media. Yep,
no CD. So I put in the CD for my lost product key and
that will not work either. What total BS. Is there a
sane solution?

The "stick-on product key", that means OEM.
You need to use the CD that came with that key.
If the CD is missing or damaged, you need to contact the seller as
Microsoft can not help with OEM.
Also there are many types of CDs and Product keys and they are not
interchangeable.

If it's HP, they put the recovery on a partition on the hard drive. Since
you put in a new hard drive, that info is gone. Contact HP and see if they
will either send you a replacement drive with the recovery info, or
installation media. If it's already out of warranty, from what I've heard,
you're pretty much out of luck.

If it's NOT an HP, you'll need to contact the manufacturer to get
replacement media.
