Have I transferred corrupted files ?

I recently upgraed my computer and reinstalled Windows XP home, my computer
was corrupted before I did the upgrade, I used the files transfer wizard to
save my files and documents and transferred them after upgrade. My computer
is still running slow. My question is did I also transfer the corrupted
material across as well. Any help would be great.
To answer a question I was asked. I uprgaded the motherboard, cpu, video
card and ram, I didnt do the installation it was performed by a computer shop

Did the shop install XP then you transferred files? What did the shop do and
what did you do? If you didn't uncorrupt your files they will remain
corrupted. Do you run a utility suite or defrag your hard drive and clean
your registry and stuff like that regularly? Do you empty your temp files
and get rid of other rubbish?

Corrupted data files shouldn't make your PC run slow.

They may not open with their associated program, or images/MP3s may be
damaged, but that shouldn't affect the actual performance of the PC.

A repair installation or clean install should have fixed any problems with
the Windows system files.

Can you further explain what running slow means ?
