Have i really deleted the virus? Cryptographic service?

I also downloaded the security patch and when I go to
install it an error message pops up KB823980 "Setup could
not verify integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure
cryptographic service is running" I have also deleted the
msblast.exe by unplugging my phone line on the back of my
pc.
clicking start, right clicking on "my computer"
clicking properties
clicking system restore
checking off "turn off system restore on all devices
pressing "control-shift-and escape" keys at same time
locating MSBLAST.exe and deleting it
clicked "run" command and typed in "Regedit"
i then restart my pc.

I will later go on and check to see if the msblast.exe
file has been deleted and it's still there!!!!!!!!!My
comp. is working fine and I am able to log on to the
internet and stay on. My ????????? (like millions of you)
HAVE I DELETED THE VIRUS? WHAT DO I DO ABOUT
CRYPTOGRAPHIC SERVICE? CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?

I WILL BE LEAVING FOR VACATION THIS WEEKEND??????????????
THANKS IN ADVANCE.....HAVE TRIED FOR HOURS TO CONTACT MS
BY PHONE!!!!!!!!!NO LUCK!!!!!!!!aren't they suppose to be
open 24 hrs????
 
Hi Idalia,

Please try these steps:

Click Start, then click Run
In the Run line, type in dcomcnfg and click OK
double click Services
locate the Cryptographic Services in the right window pane, then right
click on it and click Stop
Rename the C:\WINDOWS\System32\Catroot2 folder (just right click the Start
button and click Explore, then in the left window pane start at C and work
your way down the folder path, locate the Catroot2 folder, right click it,
click Rename, and type in Catroot2old, then press Enter)
Close Windows Explorer
click Start, then click Run
enter each following line one at a time, then click OK, you should get a
message that the operation succeeded, you have to do these one at a time:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
When you're done with that, start the Cryptographic services again, then
run the patch, it should run ok this time.
