Have I missed comments about the Win 2000 SP4 Rollup1 update? I could only
find one post (july 4) that mentions a negative outcome and problems with
log on . I just got a notice from WU to update my win 2k laptop but after
reading their descriptions, the MS website recommendations and many
readings from a Google search (mostly describing and recommending the
update), I still wonder if I should update. I have all current SP4 updates
and fear a problem like I just had with an update for my winXP SP1 desktop
from which I developed a log on problem and ended up having to reinstall
Windows, and of course everything else.

I'd appreciate comments from others' experience and or those who are better
informed about the positives and negatives of this update.

Thanks, Josie

All seems to have been exceedingly quite with the rollup.
One can uninstall it, and based with my own experiences
I can see no reason not to install

I can vouch that it went fine on two 2k systems here. (They are my networked
storage box and a test box that I use for the various betas.) Not a problem
with either. Simply follow the normal precautions of killing off your AV
prior to the installation and it's also a decent idea to ensure the system
is 99.9% surely (there's no 100%) clean of malware.

Thanks to you all for your comments, it helps to hear "informed
others" opinions. Josie

Actually...

1) One person seems to be unable to find their drives listed in the comp.
mgmt snap-in but they find it elsewhere without a problem.
2) You can't save .DOC files from Word to floppy - that seems to be
confirmed.
