I've just tried to spell check a Word document and received an error
message: "Word cannot find the spelling file mssp2_DA.lex from Danish".
The program appears to have defaulted to Danish. How can I get it back,
and more importantly if this is some sort of virus, how can I get rid of
it? I use AVG.

Thanks.

No it does NOT sound like a virus problem but now that you posted with your REAL email
address, you can expect the Swen internet worm. Here's why...

The Swen is news spelled backwards. The reason it is called this is because the Swen worm
harvests email addresses from UseNet News Groups. It has an engine that allows it to post
itself to UseNet News Groups and well as it has its own email engine. From the list of
email addresses that it has harvested, it will then email itself to those addresses.

It sounds like the Language in your Word document is set to Danish. Tools |
Language gives you a dialog that tells you what language the cursor is in,
or that lets you apply a Language to selected text. If the problem happens
in new documents, you may need to go to Format | Style and modify the
language that Normal style is set to.

If you post with a spam-proof address from now on, the Swen worm will
eventually slow down. Try creating a fake account in your newsreader and use
it only to post.

I've tried these fake E-mail addresses but they are confusing. The point
about my Word Processor is that the language was set to English, UK; I
have just reset it, and it has defaulted to Danish again. What could be
causing this?

The ubiquitous Mrs Barnhill!

The problem seems to have corrected itself; it is a complete mystery to
me, but I certainly did nothing either to cause or remedy it.

Perhaps it was the Hamlet effect?

For communication,
replace "at" with the 'at sign'
replace "mindjump" with "mindspring."
replace "dot" with "."
