I am new here, so please forgive me if this is a particularly stupid question. I have a Vaio PCV-W which has Drag'n'Drop software which I have used to back-up movies on DVD-RWs. I have used DVD-RWs x2. Just bought a new pack - this time DVD-RW x4. The computer does not recognise them. Is this because I have a computer which cannot read this type of DVD-RW? Or have I bought a dud pack? Or might there be something wrong with my computer? Still works fine with the old DVD-RWs x2.

Many thanks for any assistance!!!

What make are the disks?

Thanks,

Some optical drives are fussy about which disks they like.

If your drive sees one media yet not another, change the media, you have little choice really. If possible take the 4 x disks back and exchange them.

Verbatim disks are usually good, I thoroughly recommend them.

And by way of mentiong DVD-RW disks are not the best method for long term storage of movies, you'd be better off burning them permanently, especially considering how inexpensive the media is.

And is the Vaio a laptop or desktop machine? For some reason laptops always seem more fussy about which disks they like.

Thanks for the v quick replies. The new DVD-RWs are Verbatim. The computer is a desktop. (The old x2 ones were from Tescos)

I'll try and exchange the disks.

Thanks again

My PC, built by chimps/yts trainee at Mesh does not like CDR/CDRW/DVDR/DVDRW+ discs.
My laptop, built by Toshiba:thumb: will accept any disc's it's given including RAM discs.
Try a good brand like Sony or Philips and see if they work.
