I have Windows 98SE on my system with IE6 (SP1 with all Security updates).
I have cable modem connection to the Internet and I am using a Belkin
router. I also have a software firewall installed and running--it is
Omniquad Personal Firewall.
While I was using IE6 today, the strangest message popped up unexpectedly on
my screen! It took up the whole screen. The background was read, and a
gray message window appeared in the center of the screen that said "Hold
down the Enter key for 10 seconds to see a cool trick".
Needless to say, I did *not* follow these instructions! I hit the
Control/Alt/Delete to see what was running, and apparently this Process was
listed as "-Windows". I clicked to end this process and it disappeared.
However, I am concerned that I have been hacked or spoofed?
Has anyone else encountered a message like this? Or could it have just been
a pop-up advertising message of some form?
Quentin

Please note: Please reply to newsgroup. If you do reply by e-mail, remove
the "x" from my e-mail address. It is an anti-spam measure.

There was an incorrectly spelled word in my post. It should have said "the
background was red" rather than "the background was read".
Sorry...
Quentin
