Using Win Update Site Problem

I can know longer get downloads from the Windows Updates site.

the Update site scans at my Window 98 system.... it recommends what
Windows Patches & Software i need.... then i choose the one(s) i
want....then i select the engage the download button .. Results:
I get a
1. Script error-
2. Line 2-
3. ...does not recognize the object
4. the sites url is then posted .
Then i'm prompted to continue anyway or not ....i select `yes` then i
get the "Do i accept the Microsoft copyright agreement Terms prompt" ...
however the "i agree to" button is dull & will not allow a click-on.
(Selecting "no" had no effect, either)

I tried to re-download IE 6.0 but after downloading the IE 6.0 setup
program & opening it..... it just loads & prepares my computer for the
big download of the main IE 6.0.
IT will not let me take the actual IE 6.0 downloaded, no matter how many
times i re-boot & go back & try!

I have Cleaned My Temp, History, etc & have re-installed the Windows 5.6
script engine.
ALSO I've run a RegEdit Scan program Nothing was found.
Still the same problem.

Any idea's PLEASE.

BTW- I think this malfunction occurred after doing a ONLINE Worm & Virus
test.
I can't remember what the site was called nor it's url!
The Test site said it found the LOVE-B virus & asked me if i wanted to
"Move, Rename, or Delete-it".
i chose "move-it" cause i was uncertain that the infection detection was
true because i had successfully scanned for Viruses & Worms at two other
online test sites... no problems.
However after i tried to "MOVE" the detected virus, my computer
locked-up. After re-booting... everything seemed to work fine except for
the Window' Update tool problem (mentioned above).

I've checked for Viruses & Worms using F-Prot & AV antivirus programs &
nothing was found wrong.

Some say i have the Q-Host Trojan however i do not have any of the
published symptoms... nor is any mention of this Trojan or Love B virus
having any effect on the Window Update site (problems)

I am at a lost & need some expert advise please help!

Go to "Software" in the configuration menu.

Look what is installed there and what isn't supposed to be on your system.
remove it.

then go to this site

www.free-av.com

download AV for winxp

run it

now you can see if you are infected or not

b.t.w. a real virus is the flu
