Some weeks ago I posted a query about menus not pulling down under my mouse
pointer. No replies - at least, not on my isp's server. Fortunately, I was
eventually able to resolve that one myself.

On 12/02/2009 I posted the query "re WinXP Events & associated sounds". Again
no reply.

But I see reply threads to many other queries. Have I offended some protocol?

It is a "newsgroup."

If people have the answer they will respond, but sometimes after a period of
time.

Or, they will tell you that you should have looked it up on Google.

Unfortunately the date-month/month-date thing isn't standardized. For a
few seconds I was wondering if you had mistyped the date (Dec 2, 2009
instead of Dec 2, 2008). I found your Feb 12 post on Microsoft's server
though.

Was your other post you were mentioning the Feb 4 one about "Lost Start
menu Animation"? That's the only other one I see on Microsoft's server.
I am using a news reader that is able to sort by the "sender/from" field.

Maybe there was confusion over your post being labeled "Re WinXp Events
& associated sounds" since "re" is typically used to indicate that a
message is a reply.

Then again, Maybe no one knew (or knows) where there is a list of events
that Windows can associate with a sound. I believe some applications are
coded to add to that list, so any list may be incomplete.

Perhaps no one knows what is causing your menu issues either.

Perhaps you should use the Microsoft server instead of that of your
ISP. (msnews.microsoft.com)

Your message "re WinXP Events & associated sounds" has not been
answered, though I (and perhaps others did the same) skipped over it
as it started with "re" and I assumed it a reply. Maybe next time use
a subject like: "WinXP Events & associated sounds"?
If you repost, include the items that you need help on, as many
programs can put sounds in Sounds & Audio Devices.

OK - isp server problem - seems to selectively retain. Now finally set up for
microsoft's own server & seems to work fine. Thanks for the advice. Now I'll
post my Windows sounds query again.
