I'm confused about resolution. Will the picture on a full tv screen
using pvr 350 be as good as an ordinary tv picture or do you not get a
full size tv image?
In the ads I only see mention of lower resolutions.

I'm not sure what ads you are referring to. I own one of these cards, a
250?, I think (don't have it in this computer), and the video output is
superb on a standard-def TV set. According to what I read on the 350 (and
from what I KNOW of my own hauppage card), the video capture and playback
has selectable resolutions from vcd (about half the resolution of
standard-def, I believe) to DVD (greater than standard-def), and a couple
settings higher than that.

So the output should fill the entire screen of any TV set quite easily. It
will look good regardless of your TV set, also. For example, DVD resolution
video (which the 350 will do) will look great on a high-def monitor, but
also looks great on standard-def monitors.

You should be all set.

But, If this is your first DVR, you need to be aware of disk space
limitations. That is, capturing video through that PVR card will fill up a
hard drive fast. At reasonable resolution (say DVD for example), figure on
about 2-2.5GB of hard disk space per hour of captured video. Or, a 200GB
hard drive will give you about 80 hours of recording space, assuming that
hard drive is used for nothing but video capture.

Of course, you could always add another hard drive (they're fairly cheap) or
dump programs you want to save onto DVD, to free up hard drive space. -Dave
