Had trouble booting up my PC today. Took 3 tries. Went through POST and
drive detection and then gave me a blank screen. Noticed during the second
and third try that the HD was showing up as "Iaxtor" instead of "Maxtor" at
drive detection. Finally got it running, made a Powermax test floppy, ran
the tests, and was told everything was OK. Now the PC boots OK, HD shows up
as "Maxtor."

Anyone have suggestions about what I need to do? Is it a cable issue, BIOS
battery issue, or sign of bad news coming?

Thanks.

Work out where the problem is and fix that |-)
Is it a cable issue,

It can be and thats certainly cheap to try. You
may be able to just swap the ribbon cables if they
are the same type, same number of conductors.
BIOS battery issue,

Cant be due to that.

Yep, it can be a warmup fault in either the
drive or the controller on the motherboard etc.

Can be a failing motherboard too.

Turn the PC off and leave it off for a while and
run PowerMax from the floppy as soon as you
turn it on and see if it sees a problem after you
have tried the cable swap.
